It's one of the most widely used reading accommodations for dyslexia. Hearing the words while following the highlighted text lets many readers spend their effort on meaning instead of decoding — though what helps varies from person to person, which is why trying it free on your own reading beats any claim we could make.
Can it read slower as well as faster?
Yes — 0.5× to 2×, and slowing down matters as much as speeding up. At any speed the current sentence stays highlighted, so eyes and ears stay in the same place.
Is it free?
Listening with your browser's built-in voices is unlimited and free, with no account. Without an account you get a one-time premium-voice trial of 2,500 characters (about 500 words), plus 10 AI summaries from a separate allowance. A free account adds about 2,000 premium words each month, shared with AI summaries. Pro raises it to 200,000 words a month, billed monthly or yearly.
Does it work on school or work computers?
It installs like any extension from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons or Firefox Add-ons. On managed devices — school Chromebooks, company laptops — administrators control what can be installed; if the install button is blocked, ask your IT team or accessibility coordinator to allow it.
Is my reading private?
The extension contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don't monitor pages you don't ask Lullula to read. A premium voice sends the page's text to our servers to generate the audio; built-in voices are your browser's own speech engine (some browsers' online voices send the text to their provider). AI summaries send the page's text to our servers and an AI provider (you can turn summaries off in the extension's settings). Details in the privacy policy.
