What EPUBs can Lullula read?
Lullula works with DRM-free EPUB files: open one and it loads in Lullula’s own EPUB viewer.
Works with DRM-free EPUBs
Great for public-domain books, independent e-books, exported EPUBs, study materials, and other DRM-free EPUB files.
Does not bypass DRM
Books locked by Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, or other stores may not be readable unless they're available in a DRM-free EPUB format.
How to read an EPUB aloud
Install Lullula, open a DRM-free EPUB, and press play.
Install Lullula
Add the free extension from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons or Firefox Add-ons.
Open a DRM-free EPUB
Open the .epub file or link in your browser — for a book on your own disk, drag it onto a new browser tab. Chrome has no EPUB viewer of its own, so Lullula opens it in its own EPUB viewer. A book on your own disk opens in Chrome and Edge once the extension’s access to file URLs is on; Firefox can’t open EPUB files from your disk.
Press play
Lullula reads aloud and highlights each sentence; once you sign in, it remembers your place across chapters.

Questions, answered
Does Lullula read DRM-protected EPUBs?
Lullula reads DRM-free EPUB files. Books locked with DRM from a store can't be opened and read aloud until they're in an unprotected EPUB format.
Where do I open an EPUB to listen to it?
Open the .epub file or link in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Lullula opens it in its own reader, reads it aloud with sentence highlighting, and, once you sign in, keeps your place across chapters. A book on your own disk opens in Chrome and Edge once the extension's access to file URLs is on; Firefox can't open EPUB files from your disk.
What languages can it read e-books in?
600+ natural neural voices across 80+ languages, with adjustable speed from 0.5× to 2×.
Is my EPUB content private?
We don't monitor pages you don't ask Lullula to read, and we don't sell your data. Your book file is never uploaded. A premium voice sends the book's text to our servers to generate the audio; AI summaries send it to our servers and an AI provider (you can turn summaries off in the extension's settings). See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can Chrome open EPUB files by itself?
Browsers don't open EPUB files on their own. Lullula supplies the reader: open an .epub file or link and it loads in Lullula's viewer, chapter by chapter, with the player attached.
Can Lullula read Kindle books?
Lullula doesn't bypass DRM. Kindle books or books locked to a store may not work unless you have a legal, DRM-free EPUB version.
Does Lullula save my place in long books?
Yes, once you sign in (a free account is enough). Lullula then remembers where you stopped so you can return later and continue from the same chapter or sentence.
Can I listen to EPUBs while doing other things?
Yes. Open the EPUB, press play, and listen while you cook, tidy up, or rest your eyes.
